Revel Concerta2 M16 Speaker System Sound & Vision Review

“The Revel Concerta2 is a reasonably priced speaker line that consistently delivers impeccable highend sound, as Revel has done as a brand throughout its history. The B10 sub isn’t cheap, but nor would I call it overpriced, considering what it offers. I’m especially impressed that the M16 monitor provides so much transparency, refinement, and neutrality for well under $1,000 per pair. In fact, I came to trust and enjoy the monitor so much, I might have adopted it as my new reference speaker—replacing the Paradigm Studio 20 v.4, which is now a decade old and lacks top-firing drivers to support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.”

Revel Concerta2 F36 Loudspeaker Sound & Vision Review

Revel’s new Concerta2 loudspeaker range consists of five models. The M16 bookshelves, C25 center, S16 surrounds, and B10 subwoofer are covered in a separate review due out shortly. There are also two tower models in the group; the F35 employs three 5-inch woofers, while the larger F36, reviewed alone here, uses three 6.5-inch low-frequency drivers. Apart from the woofer and cabinet sizes, the F35 and F36 are similar in concept.

Revel F208

Revel Performa3 F208: $5000/pair $$$

The new F208, from Revel's Performa3 line, is a floorstanding three-way speaker with all aluminum drivers: a 1" dome tweeter, 5.25" cone midrange, and two 8" cone woofers. The woofers are reflex-loaded through a front-mounted port with a removable resistive plug, while the tweeter fires through a newly designed, dispersion-enhancing waveguide.

Revel M106

Revel Performa3 M106: $2000/pair (stands necessary)

A two-way, reflex-loaded speaker intended to be bolted to a matching M stand ($500/pair), the M106 is from Revel's Performa3 line of US-designed, Indonesian-made speakers. Its drive-units are a 1" aluminum-dome tweeter fitted with a waveguide said to improve dispersion above 8kHz—thus smoothing its frequency response and adding to the M106's detail resolution and spaciousness—and a reflex-loaded, 6.5" aluminum-cone mid/woofer.

Revel Concerta2 F36 Tower Speakers Review

Revel, part of Harman International, has recently updated their entry level Concerta speaker line.

I have owned the Concerta1 Left/Center/Right and surround speakers for the past eight years. Revel doesn’t change their designs often and when they do, it means something. Change is often good, but is it necessary?

Revel Concerta2 F36 Floorstanding Speaker Reviewed

In my nearly three decades of reviewing products, I've learned there are a lot of people who don't want to weigh the pros and cons of every subtle characteristic of the audio products they buy. They don't care about the latest audiophile fad; they just want something that's built right and sounds great. That's the kind of person who might be interested in the Revel Concerta2 F36 ($2,000/pair).

Revel Performa3 Be Series Auspicious Debut

It may look like the same old Revel Performa3 F208 floorstander and M106 compact but the new “Be” edition is something else entirely. Hot-rodded with a beryllium tweeter, a new diecast waveguide, and a ceramic cone midrange and revamped filter network, these models are meant to close the price performance gap in the Revel line between stock Performa3 and flagship Salon2.

Revel and GoldenEar: How to Improve an Already Great Loudspeaker -- Times Two

I used to think that some $5000/pr. speakers were the epitome of high-end audio playback at a reasonable cost. At this price you can get some truly outstanding speakers that also represent excellent value for money. Well, we sometimes get set in our ways, and at recent CESes I would often find myself scoffing at speakers that cost more than $5k/pr., thinking that they couldn’t possibly offer the same value as some of those excellent-sounding, less-expensive speakers. But this year I heard a couple of floorstanding speakers that changed my mind.

Revel offers a warm welcome

The Harman group of audio brands has some big-hitting names, including Mark Levinson and JBL Synthesis, the latter creating ultra high-end home cinema systems that would be right near the top of my list if I were to win the lottery. The Revel speaker name is, I'm sure, less well known. But it's also likely to get the attention of those on more down-to-earth budgets.

Revel F206 Review
Plus

Revel F206 is well-balanced speakers playing with a fine balance while both life and dynamism. Here are no excesses or spectacular trends, but it does not reproduction boring. On the contrary, the playing style modern and engaging.

Minus

The neutral version may be little monitor-like, if you angle the speakers very inward. The bass is clean and cash, but do not abysmally down.

Revel M106 Review

The first product I reviewed for the SoundStage! Network was a pair of Revel loudspeakers, back in 2006. The F12 was a member of Revel’s first line of entry-level speakers, the Concertas, then newly introduced. (A successor line, Concerta2, was launched at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show.) I liked the Concerta F12, but at the time I’m not sure I appreciated just how good it was, especially for the price: $1198 USD per pair. For several years I wanted to review another Revel model, but SoundStage! Hi-Fi hadn’t reviewed anything from the company since 2009, when Doug Schneider wrote about the Ultima2 Salon2.

Revel Performa3 F206 Review

See you always meet twice in life - this experience have so many been able to experience or need. Before I begin with the test, I must therefore only announce my personal coming-out.

It is not about a statement like once in Biolek, Kerkeling, Westerwelle or Hitzelberger. I was there and that as a founding member of Sun Audio mid-1980s. As a former business student and hi-fi enthusiast, I have to build the now well-established company successfully accompanied two years and then sold my shares. This information do I owe you, and I promise to be at least as critical as with all other manufacturers and distributors at the same time against their products.

As far as the prehistoric times to the telephone conversation with Philipp Krauspenhaar, the head of Sun Audio, when he asked me if I'm interested in a test of the F-206th This type designation I initially thought more like a Formula One racer from Maranello, but soon I was informed that this was the second largest model in the series Performa 3 of the renowned American manufacturer REVEL.
